What Your Day Will Look Like

As a graduate engineer inspector, you’ll inspect various facets of work on the construction site, take field measurements and perform calculations, and prepare relevant inspection reports. You’ll verify that appropriate materials and construction processes are being used and ensure that construction conforms to the project plans, specifications, and special provisions. The graduate engineer inspector reports to the project manager.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with various design-related tasks, analyses, and field duties on transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Support the development of construction plans, technical specifications, cost estimates, bid/construction contract documents, various calculations, quantity takeoffs, and material testing coordination under the direction of licensed civil engineers.
  • Maintain relationships with clients and contractors to ensure construction activities adhere to the schedule and fulfill contractual obligations.
  • Aid in organizing tasks and responsibilities for field inspection personnel.
  • Participate in the examination and assessment of change order logs, Request for Information (RFIs), and cost proposals.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in construction from an ABET accredited university. Possession of Engineer-in-Training credential.
  • 0-1 year of past construction inspection experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Open Roads.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
