What You'll Do

  • Managing and being a technical resource on transportation projects across Ontario.
  • Managing staff to provide innovative, integrated, pragmatic and consistent solutions to complex planning challenges.
  • Function as a Project Manager on Transportation Planning, preliminary design environmental assessments, traffic operations/safety and other projects.
  • Maintaining an awareness of trends, developments, and advancements in the transportation planning field to retain technical competency.
  • Negotiating innovative solutions to complex planning challenges to achieve transportation planning and development objectives.
  • Working closely with and supervising Engineers, Engineers in Training (EIT), technologists, and planning staff to grow diverse transportation planning practices.
  • Mentoring and coaching project teams including technical and field staff.
  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate for this position

What You'll Need

  • Graduate of a University program in civil engineering, planning or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng) or Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE).
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience preferred minimum of 10 years of experience in project management and senior engineering responsibilities in transportation planning, preliminary design, environmental assessment studies, and stakeholder consultation.
  • Experience in a range of planning and preliminary design studies of multi-modal transportation infrastructure including highways, roadways, transit, and active transportation.
  • Strong communication, presentation, proposal, and report-writing skills are essential.
  • Experienced in motivating, leading, and supervising a team of professional staff as part of the senior management team.
  • Consulting industry experience and specific experience working with municipalities is a strong asset.
  • Highly developed human relations, interpersonal, analytical and conflict resolution skills; and the ability to develop solid internal and external relationships.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals (OTMs), the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, TAC, and other transportation standards, manuals, and requirements required to perform signal warrant studies and assist in the development of maintenance of traffic plans for highway construction and utility projects.
  • Strong Knowledge of analyses and simulations of transportation systems using software packages such as VISSIM, VISUM, , TORUS and/or SIDRA/ARCADY.
  • Sound knowledge of legislative and contractual obligations and related corporate policies.
